Kanda Myoujin Shrine, officially Kanda Shrine, is one of Tokyo's oldest and most influential Shinto shrines, founded in 730 and relocated to its current Sotokanda site in 1616 during the Edo period. Revered by shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, who prayed here before the Battle of Sekigahara, it became the spiritual guardian of Edo and today hosts the Kanda Matsuri, one of Japan's three great festivals. The shrine sits a seven-minute walk from Akihabara Station in Chiyoda.

Thanks to its proximity to Akihabara's electronics quarter, the shrine is famously visited by tech workers and anime fans seeking talismans to protect gadgets and computers, and it has appeared in works such as Love Live. Two of its deities belong to the Shichifukujin (Seven Lucky Gods), making it a stop on the Shichi-fukujin pilgrimage.
